Julie is a Family Nurse Practitioner who has been practicing since 2012 following her graduation from Columbia University’s highly ranked NP program... She’s a lifelong caretaker with an extensive background in health care ranging from work in emergency services, urgent care, college health and sexual/reproductive health. During her time in college health, Julie realized just how poor and limited gender-affirming care was which led her to helping to launch and lead True U. She is dedicated and passionate about providing competent, compassionate gender-affirming care and increasing access to care through technology and innovation, and considers her work at True U to be the most rewarding of her career. Labs can be done in one of the three following ways:
Make an appointment at LabCorp: Have them drawn at a LabCorp near you. You can use insurance or self-pay through True U for $99.
Have the lab come to you: A mobile phlebotomist can draw the lab work directly from the privacy of your home! This service is $99 (+ $99 for self-pay labs).
Use a walk-in clinic. You may use insurance or self-pay. For self-pay we ship the lab supplies to you so you have them drawn at the walk-in clinic of your choice. The cost of self-pay labs (incl the lab kit) is $99.

We will send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. In addition, you may also use our mail-in pharmacy partner NewEra Pharmacy or our compounding pharmacy partner Empower Pharmacy.

Insurance may cover your medications. Out-of-pocket costs for medications are typically $20-60/month, depending on route of administration, types of medications, etc. If you self-pay for medications, we recommend using a GoodRx coupon for the lowest prices.

Consultation visits include STI testing, PrEP, and other hormone therapy needs outside of routine follow-up visits. The cost of consultation visits is $179/visit.
PrEP is an anti-viral treatment to prevent HIV in those who are at a higher risk of contracting HIV. Taken daily, PrEP medications can prevent up to 99% of HIV infections. Ask your True U provider if PrEP is right for you.
Routine STI testing helps ensure your health and the health of your partners. We offer comprehensive STI testing including HIV, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C. We encourage you to talk with your True U provider to discuss your sexual health care and wellness!

No, we do not charge monthly membership fees. At True U, you only pay for the care you receive.

In short, yes. At True U, we understand that transferring care can sometimes feel overwhelming. That’s why we’re committed to providing our clients with a seamless and stress-free process. Rather than requiring a two-visit start-up, we take the initiative to order labs before your first visit, allowing us to seamlessly continue your prescription from the very start. Our goal is to ensure your transition is as smooth as possible and to provide the high-quality care you deserve from day one.

Yes, as long as your provider is registered to practice in your state, you can choose your provider. You can sign up for your appointment (and choose your provider) by navigating to our online scheduling portal.

The bad news: We don’t take insurance. The good news: This means your information stays private, and you’ll never have to worry about claims being denied. Plus, we’ll provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. And, to make things even easier, we accept HSA and FSA payments!

Our services are typically available for individuals over the age of 18. However, in certain states, we may be able to provide care for those under 18 with parental or guardian consent. Please call our office for more details on availability of care.
