How It Works

How It Works

True U Clinic provides easy, simple, and safe hormone therapy that’s affordably priced and convenient for you.

Because you deserve the highest quality care from the highest quality providers.

Scheduling your appointment

Schedule your first appointment

Access our safe, secure, and HIPAA-compliant Patient Portal to reserve your first appointment, complete your medical history, sign necessary forms, and confirm your appointment by paying a deposit - all in one convenient place.

Meet with your provider

During your first (virtual!) visit, your provider will learn about you and your goals, and create a custom therapy plan tailored for you.

Complete your labs

After your initial appointment, your provider will order baseline lab work. Lab work can be done at a local outpatient lab - we prefer LabCorp, but you can choose to use any lab – or we can have a phlebotomist come to your home.

Follow-up appointment for hormone therapy

In your follow-up appointment, you’ll meet your provider to review your blood work and get your prescription for hormone therapy. You can use your preferred local pharmacy or we can have your prescriptions mailed directly to you.

Follow-up visits

During the first year of treatment, follow-up visits and lab work are scheduled every 3 months to ensure treatment efficacy and safety. Once your dosages are adjusted and hormonal levels have normalized, follow-up visits are typically done every 6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We typically have appointments openings within ten days. You can easily, quickly, and confidentially schedule your appointment now!

  • There are three ways to complete your lab work.

    1. Visit a LabCorp location

You may schedule an appointment at a LabCorp location near you to have your labs drawn.

    You have two options:

Use insurance: LabCorp will bill your insurance directly.

    Self-pay through True U ($99):
If you choose the $99 self-pay option, you must purchase the lab order through True U before going to LabCorp.
Do not walk into LabCorp and request the labs yourself, as pricing may be significantly higher.

    2. Have labs drawn at home

A mobile phlebotomist can come to your home to collect your blood sample.

    Costs:

    • Mobile draw fee: $99
    • If you choose self-pay labs, the lab panel is $99

If you choose self-pay labs, you must purchase the lab order through True U before scheduling the mobile draw.

    3. Visit a walk-in clinic of your choice

You may also have your labs drawn at a walk-in clinic or lab near you.

    You have two options:

Use insurance: The clinic will bill your insurance.

    Self-pay through True U ($99):
If you choose self-pay, True U will ship a lab kit to you that you bring to the clinic for the blood draw.
You must purchase the lab order through True U before going to the clinic.

    Important note about self-pay labs

If you choose the $99 self-pay lab option, it must be arranged and paid for through True U before visiting any lab or clinic.

If you go directly to LabCorp or another clinic without purchasing the self-pay labs through True U first, True U cannot guarantee pricing and is not responsible for any out-of-pocket costs charged by the lab.

  • We will send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. In addition, you may also use our mail-in pharmacy partner NewEra Pharmacy or our compounding pharmacy partner Empower Pharmacy.

  • Insurance may cover your medications. Out-of-pocket costs for medications are typically $20-60/month, depending on route of administration, types of medications, etc. If you self-pay for medications, we recommend using a GoodRx coupon for the lowest prices.

  • Consultation visits include STI testing, PrEP, and other hormone therapy needs outside of routine follow-up visits. The cost of consultation visits is $195/visit.

    • PrEP is an anti-viral treatment to prevent HIV in those who are at a higher risk of contracting HIV. Taken daily, PrEP medications can prevent up to 99% of HIV infections. Ask your True U provider if PrEP is right for you.

    • Routine STI testing helps ensure your health and the health of your partners. We offer comprehensive STI testing including HIV, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C. We encourage you to talk with your True U provider to discuss your sexual health care and wellness!

  • No, we do not charge monthly membership fees. At True U, you only pay for the care you receive.

  • In short, yes. At True U, we understand that transferring care can sometimes feel overwhelming. That’s why we’re committed to providing our clients with a seamless and stress-free process. Rather than requiring a two-visit start-up, we take the initiative to order labs before your first visit, allowing us to seamlessly continue your prescription from the very start. Our goal is to ensure your transition is as smooth as possible and to provide the high-quality care you deserve from day one.

I’ve had an amazing experience with True U Clinic. My first appointment I had with Harper. I felt safe and comfortable and that I could be completely honest and be myself. She trusted me in how I know myself and that’s a big deal. After the first appointment I was set up to start testosterone and get blood work done. It felt so good to be able to be have a process that was caring and fast. True U keeps in touch with you as well to make sure you’re doing well.
